Rice pudding, this comforting and gourmet dessert, is a true classic that has passed through the generations. With its vanilla aromas and creamy texture, it is perfect for any occasion, from family meals to sweet moments alone. Today, we offer you a simple and delicious recipe, which can be made in a few steps.
Ingredients:
- 200 g cream (for an even creamier texture)
- 1000 g of milk (ideally whole for a richer taste)
- 200 g round rice (it's the secret to a perfect texture)
- 150 g sugar (adjust according to your taste)
- 1 vanilla pod (or vanilla extract, but the bean is always better)
- A pinch of salt (to enhance everything)
Preparation:
- Heat the milk and vanilla:
In a large saucepan, pour in the milk and add the vanilla bean split in two (or vanilla extract). Heat gently over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the milk is hot but not boiling. - Add rice and sugar:
Once the milk is hot, stir in the round rice and sugar. Stir to distribute the sugar well and start cooking over medium heat - Cooking rice pudding:
Cook for 30-40 minutes, stirring regularly to prevent the rice from sticking. Taste the rice as you go to make sure it has the right texture: it should be tender but not overcooked. If necessary, add a little bit of milk during cooking to adjust the consistency. - Add the cream and salt:
Once the rice has reached the desired texture, remove the pot from the heat. Stir in the cream and a small pinch of salt, then mix well to obtain a creamy and smooth consistency. - Let it rest and serve:
Let it cool a bit before serving, or enjoy it lukewarm for an even more comforting effect. You can also add a little caramel, fresh fruit or chocolate chips to vary the pleasures.
Caroline's tips: For an even more gourmet touch, feel free to sprinkle cinnamon or add a little lemon zest for a pleasant contrast with the sweetness of rice pudding.
This simple, but so tasty, dessert is sure to delight young and old alike. To your pots and pans!
